Local artist Chris Granillo joins us to share the art of printmaking! This class will be broken into beginner intro to printmaking, leaving you with one printed art and one well inked pull print. One print from each edition will be donated to El Sobrante Library. Registration required.
Printmaking at its most basic level involves the creation of a matrix (wood block, linoleum & monotype surfaces), inking that matrix and then transferring the ink to paper. Essential in printmaking is the production of multiples and repetition. This class will introduce several printmaking media and techniques including relief, monotype, and more. The focus is on fine art printmaking. All materials will be provided.
Working across California for more than 20 years, Chris is a self-taught artist whose work centers on capturing and honoring community resilience and ways of being. Chris' application of surreal and abstract styles reflects the struggles of everyday life as local communities interact with their environment. Chris is experienced working in large scale, on canvas with oil and acrylic paints, and in making woodblock prints.
This workshop is for adults only. Registration required. Please arrive to class on time; your spot will be given to someone on the waiting list if you arrive late ten minutes or more.
For special accommodations, please contact the Library with 72 hours notice. This program is generously funded by Library Foundation of Contra Costa.
