Events › Día de Muertos Community Altar

Day of the Dead is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November. It honors the lives of family members, friends, and others who have passed away. During this time the dead are reunited with the living and fondly remembered.

We respectfully invite the community to participate in creating an altar by submitting photos of departed loved ones and pets. Photos can be submitted by email to ant@library.cccounty.us or copies of photos* may be given at the service desk until October 31st. Everyone is welcome to take part in and view the altar that will be on display through November 2nd.

*No original photos will be accepted; a scanner is available for use at the library to scan the photo for electronic submission to the altar.

El Día de Muertos es un día festivo tradicional en Mexico que se celebra el 1 y 2 de noviembre. Honra las vidas de familiares, amigos y otras personas que han fallecido. Durante este tiempo los muertos se reencuentran con los vivos y se recuerdan con cariño.

Respetuosamente invitamos a la comunidad a participar en la creación de un altar presentando fotografías de seres queridos y mascotas fallecidos. Pueden enviar las fotos por correo electrónico a ant@library.cccounty.us o se pueden entregar copias de fotos* a la mesa de servicio hasta el 31 de octubre. Todos son bienvenidos a participar y ver el altar que estará en exhibición hasta el 2 de noviembre.

*No se aceptarán fotografías originales; Hay un escáner disponible para su uso en la biblioteca para escanear la fotografía y enviarla electrónicamente al altar.
