This is a book that I have bought recently this year and I honestly believe that everyone should read it or in this case listen to it! Even though this book is a few decades old it still applies to the social systems of modern time, especially with the corruption of the current political system and the media. This book is an excellent satire to represent the oppression of social classes and how there will always be someone attempting to be more successful and have more of importance then others around them, and it makes you ask the question "for what?" This book is very thought provoking and will make you think about how you fit in the social system. It also shows how we would rather would rather vote and pit everyone against each other instead of having peace. Overall this is an amazing read and it is amazing that you can now hear it as an audio book! -@TheCollector of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board

High school curriculum? This book was read in the middle school curriculum for district 113. It is not that difficult to comprehend or finish reading. There is also a movie out base one the book that one may enjoy.

This is a satire of human nature, which is corrupt and which corrupts all social systems. No perfect society can be created without perfecting human nature, which is a Lone Hunter (selfish predator). Arthur Koestler writes in his book "The Ghost In The Machine" that the feeling of separate self will be taken out from the common man to serve the System peacefully. Otherwise, the Holy Books also envisaged to create the final and perfect society by changing human nature for a selfless one. For this the present selfish man has to be gradually phased out. The coming new age is called in some radio programs as "Post-Human," "Post-Industrial," and "Post-Modern." The present system will be totally changed also, and it will not be Democracy, where at present we vote against each other, instead of aiming for a peaceful common future

This was a book I have been wanting to read for years and I am so glad I finally did. I don't think it's part of the high school curriculum anymore, but it really should be. I also think it should be mandatory reading for politicians everywhere. Annually.
