When devastating news rattles a young girl's community, her normally attentive parents and neighbors are suddenly exhausted and distracted. At school, her teacher tells the class to look for the helpers-the good people working to make things better in big and small ways. She wants more than anything to help in a BIG way, but maybe she can start with one small act of kindness instead ... and then another, and another. Small things can compound, after all, to make a world of difference. Both timely and timeless, this charmingly illustrated debut picture book from Sarah Lynne Reul touches on themes of community, resilience, and optimism with an authenticity that will resonate with readers young and old.

It is good for young readers to understand about some emergency situations that might crop up. Also, it provides an idea to cope up with the situation (temporary). My son (6 years old) liked it.

This books seems to have been created based around some natural disaster or world-event that has parents and adults worried. It's affecting the children, and they wonder if there's anything they can do to help their parents get out of the slump. They try to do big gestures, but it's the small things they do that allow them to change the mood in the household. Good book for children developing empathy for others. Good for when the person you don't want to be president, senator, or other government official goes into office or during natural disasters or events.

Sadly, with violence and tragedy reported on television and via the Internet every day - this book is needed to help quell the fears and anxiety caused by all of the bad news.
