It's always so easy to assign people a label as to who they are in a small limited description. Yet everyone is a full person with a full story and full feelings. This movie for me was the reminder that each person whoever they are and whatever circumstances they live are full dimensional beings. Each character in the movie was well played. Ben Foster and Elle Fanning gave nuanced performances of people in horrific circumstances that find a smidgen of caring and love. Unfortunately the moment the hearts were about to open and maybe a little bit of hope found more tragedy unfolds. But in the end our lead gives his freedom away for the safety of another. A simple man becomes a hero.

Two damaged people on the run; quite predictable for about three-quarters of the film, then a twist that doesn't really work. Decent performance from Ben Foster, but that's about it. Can't decide whether the über-sentimental final shot was the right way to close.

I am from the South United States, and my family lived in a very small, country town. I ran into these kinds of persons. These two characters are trying to get out of horrible lives and situations. It's a tough set-up, and tougher to watch both of them. They live moment by moment. They struggle daily, and they have tough living attitudes. In the end, they save each other in a wry way. It is an interesting watch, but if you knew a family member like this, you'd probably cry. They can't climb out of their own cages, but they pass Life along in an odd way.

I don't think it can get much worse than this. It's a pretty lame movie.

A great watch but is at some points very emotional. It is a story of how people we don't even know can effect and change our lives.

Disappointing overall despite emotionally raw performances by Foster and Fanning. Perhaps it was the overall pessimistic mood of the story, but even the final epilogue bringing a degree of hope was not substantial enough to lift the melancholy.

Good performance by Ben Foster. Unsatisfying ending but, since it was based on a novel, maybe they were staying true to the book. Still better than average and worth a watch.

This movie was a bit disappointing, due to lack of action! The storyline was very entertaining though, and the acting was great. Kept you guessing throughout. Can't imagine being in their shoes!

Don't blame her. She had a hard life. But she did a brave thing once. She didn't leave you. You weren't abandoned. Never abandoned.

However bad you think she has it, where she's coming from was worse.
