A PG-13 ethnic Robin Hood story great for family quality time with popcorn.

I did not care for the actor playing Robin Hood and did not watch the whole movie. Although I thought that Jamie Foxx did a surprisingly good job as the Moorish warrior.

They should have thought about costume more. The running shoes broke the fantasy of Robin Hood. So much is wrong here. They spent their money to get a big name star, instead of a quality story...and it could go on and on. On the plus side watch it to see what not to do when making movies.

An OK sort of movie changes the storyline of the original, which I believe one was with Gregory Peck or was it Errol Flynn BUT!! the special effects are outrageously stupid as in most modern movies. As a young boy in London England (1950s) I use to really enjoy watching ITV's Robin Hood with Richard Greene as Robin Hood. And I might add NO!! adverts through the show. Not like here where now they advertise while the show is going on. (banner advertising) How low must we get?

Good movie. Very action-packed and full of adventures. Different take on classic Robin Hood story. I liked the cast and they played their roles well. Seems like there might be a sequel.

There is a reason critics rating is 15% and audience is only 41% on RT. And that it bombed at the box office - it was a bad movie. Unfortunately it appears the director failed and made the typical action movie fail: instead of making a character and drama-development driven movie that happens to have action, he made an action movie, with very little character and drama development. That leaves the movie flat and pretty uninteresting from the beginning. Unfortunately, it just isn't interesting to the viewer. If you watch the extras, you find out why - there was a clear political agenda they thought they were pushing - which, alas, appears to be their downfall. Instead of making a compelling movie, they were driven to make a propaganda piece - and propaganda pieces are by nature pretty shallow. It is unfortunate - this is really an origin story for Robin Hood - and could have set up a great set of films, if they focused on telling a compelling, well developed story instead of making a political propaganda film that is based on action scenes. Terribly disappointing.

I think they used all of their costume budget on arrows. I wasn't expecting a 10/10 for historical accuracy, but this didn't even try. The outfits were terrible, they were in Fruit of The Loom cotton tshirts and pleather, and the costume party looked like it was from The Hunger Games. I stopped watching half way through.

I liked this version of Robin Hood. If you don't like this one that's okay they're so many versions on film you could choose from. Errol Flynn, Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe. I'm sure there are more. This is a modernized Robin Hood with a more feisty Marian and an obvious criticism of the one percenters and their tax policies during that time. Some things never change.

Robin and Marian. Seasons passed, their romance blossomed. They were young, in love, and that was all that mattered... until... the cold hand of fate
reached out for them. He stole from the rich and gave to the poor. It became a bedtime story. But listen, forget history. Forget what you've seen before. Forget what you think you know. This is no bedtime story. If stealing a few coins was all he did, all he was, Robin of Loxley would never have become... Robin Hood. I knew him when he was just another lord of the manor. A good life, an easy one. Born with everything, want for nothing. ... What he didn't know was... what we are born into ... isn't always who we are.

Let him live, I'll tell you what I know. Everything. He knows nothing. Me for him! I've been killing Crusaders all my life. My every breath is an insult to your God. Please!
===
Where is Marian?
-Look, things have taken rather a turn since you've been gone, Robin. After you died, the Sheriff seized Loxley Manor as collateral for his war tax and threw Marian out. And it's not just her. He's crushing us all with his war effort. Tolls, collections.
===
This war, all wars, and everything happening here, it's as old as time. Rich men getting richer. Men of power taking more power from the blood of innocents. Yours, mine, and my son's.
===
Stealing from the rich to give to the poor? He's taking the piss out of the whole damn natural order.
-Oh, you flatter him. He's a smash and grabber, nothing more. And hideously ugly, hence that ridiculous hood.

-Your way. All your politics. It's not changing anything.

I think he wants to be their martyr. So let's give him a fate worse than death. Revoke his church. Defrock him! And throw him to the streets. That should cut him a little deeper than any blade could.
===

The church does not consider the raiding of its treasury petty.
-Ah, he barely escaped, and he got away with nothing.
But what's dangerous is the audacity of his crimes. He's got our commoners
looking up, seeing hope. We want their backs bent and heads bowed. There's been whispers of revolt. Unchecked, those whispers will build into a roar.
===
You could tell how long the last beating was because the color of the welts would go from red to blue, to yellow. Finally, they would go to pink, and the skin would harden. And by that time, Loxley, you had to make a choice. You're gonna let them beat the strength out of you or they're gonna beat it into you.

If you want me to give up the thief, at least give me the respect and try and beat it out of me.
-No. You'd just die on me out of spite.
Humans are the only species that fear death. Not just the threat of it, but its finality.
-That's what separates us from the insects and the dogs. The Arab, however, doesn't fear death at all because your false prophet promised you the garden.
A man without faith. Lonely.
-Liberating.
Without judgment, no sin.
-Faith.
We stare death in the face with courage and honor.
-Really? Because I was told that your boy begged for his life right up until the moment that we took his head from his neck. Decapitation's a funny thing because the eyes keep seeing. The mind goes on trying to deny death. Even if it's just for a few more moments.

Fate plays its part. And it's the way of things that as one story ends... another begins.

Today, we face a threat from these barbarians in Arabia. They hate us... Our freedom, our culture, our religion. But today, they face The Near Enemy, which is our Crusaders, in the desert.

The sheriff will have all his Crossmen on that convoy. A legion of them, no doubt. Elite killers armed to the teeth, and the city streets so you can forget about the element of surprise. We'll be lambs to the slaughter. This is...
-Suicide, yeah, we get it.

Four years ago, I marched off to fight for a liar's cause. Left my heart, came home an heir to nothing. The question is what would you do to get back what's yours?
