"Coffey brings the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda to a contemporary audience and shows us how to discover more about ourselves and our relationships."--Deepak Chopra

Thousands of years ago, philosophers and scientists in ancient India devised a system called Ayurveda, or "the science of life," which explains the nature of everything in the universe. Now, in What's Your Dosha, Baby?, author Lisa Marie Coffey applies this ancient wisdom to modern-day relationships, offering readers an exciting new way to measure their compatibility with lovers, friends, co-workers, and family, and arming them with the insight they need to make all their relationships work. After determining their personal dosha--one of three personality types based on physical features and personality traits--readers can learn how their dosha interacts with the others, their physical and emotional communication styles, instinctual preferences regarding food, travel, lifestyle, and work, and much more. Perfect for those looking to end the squabbling with their mate, resolve a conflict with their boss, or get the man or woman of their dreams to commit, What's Your Dosha, Baby? will help readers find true happiness and achieve great success in life, love, and relationships.

This is an older book; however, Lisa offers a necessary component to the principles of Ayurveda, which means the Science of Life. And of course, part of Life is Relationships, intimate or otherwise. Therefore, this book is a useful approach to not only gain a greater comprehension of your own Dosha (Body Type) but also a perspective on how that interplays with your Lover and ultimately all those you share space and meals with. It is well laid out, offering easily accessible charts and a wide range of information which gives a more complete picture of Living an Ayurvedic Lifestyle, such as Meditation Styles based on your Dosha, recipes, and a quiz which allows you to get a sense of which of the 3 Doshas you are if you're not familiar. An excellent guide for anyone new to Ayurveda and for someone like myself, who is knowledgeable, a beneficial quick reference.

"According to Vedic literature, creation takes two energies. One energy is masculine, and it's called Shiva. The other energy is feminine, and it's called Shakti. In stories, they are portrayed as a god and goddess. Shiva represents consciousness and Shakti represents power. When Shiva and Shakti got together, they danced and the universe was created. In this scenario, to create (and recreate and procreate!) men and women need each other. This balance of energy helps to make us whole, and we need to recognize the importance that both energies bring to the table. The Vedic tradition shows us that women empower men, that feminine energy is a giving force rather than a taking one. When you are making your intentions clear about what you are looking for in a relationship, you need to keep this in mind. A man is indeed receiving a wonderful gift when a loving woman comes into his life and gives him her energy." Chapter 12, pgs 112-113
