Add a CommentWhat a beautiful and emotionally powerful picture book about a boy’s speculation about the life of his dog before he was rescued. It begins innocently enough and soon becomes ever more powerfully rich with imagery as we find out more of the rescue’s actual life. The book’s conclusion is profound, poignant and positive. One of the best books about adoption from shelters written.
A sweet ode to shelter dogs
After reading the review by another staff member, I had to read this book.
The story is about a little boy who wonders about the life of his adopted dog before he had him. In the end of course, all the little boy cares about is that this little dog is now his and part of his family.
Would be wonderful to read with children when you are considering adopting a pet. Teaches children compassion and empathy.
This had me bawling. What a beautiful story, and great for those who love dogs or have adopted a dog. This is a wonderful picture book that leaves you thinking, and I know after reading it I just want to cuddle my pups.
