Short story collections can be a bit hit and miss, but this one was more hits than misses. It's made me curious to read some of Sawyer's long fiction

Sawyer is an amazing writer who usually thinks of the consequences of the worlds he creates, but not all of his stories are so tight and thought-provoking. Actually, some are downright boring. Of the collection, I only had 6 that I truly enjoyed (compared with 8 that sucked and one undecided). To his credit, he admits to some of the bad or simply going for the joke/last line in stories. Ultimately, I felt the collection redeeming enough to keep (versus donate to charity) and some stories in this one are must-reads. Just don't expect every story to grab you.
