While I was initially hesitant about this novel- the series is about dragons, I don't care about the humans!- it actually really impressed me. The characters are all fantastic, the way they weave in and out of the first arc of Wings of Fire is fun to follow, and the implications that this story will echo forward into a future arc of the story is really exciting. We get to see how the killing of Queen Oasis not only triggered a decade long civil war among all of the dragon tribes, the legend of the Dragonslayer rocked the continent's human population as well. From the point of view of the dragons it's easy to dismiss the humans of Pyrrhia as largely unimportant, but their influence on the dragon's world is a lot more meaningful than the dragons realize, and the destinies of these peoples are more closely linked than either of them realize.
