The author looks for the origins of her family's Christmas ravioli tradition, making discoveries about some of her family’s time in the Liguria region of Italy. She finds dedicated foodies, working to sustain regional specialty foods and products, and learns a few things about herself and her family.
Credit Schenone with seeking out the 'true family recipe’ and discovering that each generation, each person cooking, will have their own truth. I’m not sure who I’d recommend this to. For even foodie friends it might be too much. The Philadelphia cream cheese mystery running through the narrative is clever! I'll give her that.
