Indigenous Tales and Songs with Alicia Mary Retes
Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with Storytelling Artisan and Educator Alicia M. Retes. Listeners will be given the opportunity to play ethnic rattles including those of the Yoreme (Mayo) and Yoeme (Yaqui) of Sonora, Mexico of whom Alicia is descended. Alicia will teach a Pan-American song “Earth My Body” combined with physical movements reminding us interdependence on Mother Earth, and will perform her adaptation of The Three Sisters - Corn, Bean and Squash with 1- 7’ tall corn husk story characters.
