Event description

What is a Crankie? Great question! From Random Acts of Silliness: "A crankie is an ancient story telling device, consisting of a moving panoramic art scroll accompanied by a story. The scroll is cranked to move the story along, hence the name crankie." And you can join us to make your own moving picture story, i.e., a crankie!

Inspired by the dream of our friend LaVera Wilson, book maker extraordinaire, we'll provide all of the materials you'll need so you can decorate your own frame and then illustrate your story on a scroll (crankie). We'll have templates and samples, prompts for your story ideation, and friends to inspire you through the process. The story is the goal, and the crankie is the process to help the storytelling. After your crankie is complete we'll either share on the spot, or pick a follow up date for storytelling.

Registration is required, and will open on April 1st. Please sign up for the total number of children/students in your group. Adults are welcome to help out, or you can hang out in the library.
