Celebrate the Day of the Dead! / ¡Celebra el día de los Muertos!

Learn more about this beautiful Mexican holiday, which celebrates life and death. The holiday originated in Mexico but is celebrated throughout Latin America and North America with colorful calaveras (skulls) and papel picado (tissue paper cutouts). Many families create altars or ofrendas to honor the deceased. Check to see which libraries have community ofrendas you can visit. edited 9/2025
